In Hindi, garam means “hot” and masala means “mixture”.
Garam masala is added at the end of the cooking process, unlike curry, which is stirred during cooking. It goes well with all types of meat, poultry, seafood and fish. It is also used to flavor vegetables.
According to traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) medicine, this spice blend can raise the body temperature and thus stimulate the metabolism.
