Turmeric is, like ginger, the rhizome of a herbaceous plant. Cultivated in tropical countries (India, China, Indonesia), it has been used for thousands of years.
Turmeric is also known to treat back pain, indigestion or cough, but it also has other virtues: anti-inflammatory effect, antioxidant effect
Turmeric can be used to color rice dishes, for example to season soups, meat in sauce or grilled fish. It is used in curry. This spice is especially recommended for flavoring white meats or pan-fried vegetables. It also goes well with eggs.
Our tip: When turmeric is consumed on its own, our bodies can only absorb a fraction of the curcumin it contains. To make sure that most of the substance is absorbed in our intestines and then passes into the bloodstream, it is recommended to consume turmeric with the piperine contained in black pepper. Combine turmeric with fats such as coconut or olive oil or with high-fat ingredients such as vegetable milk or almond puree.
