Kala Namak salt is the product of liquid Himalayan salt which is mixed with Salsola stocksii. This type of plant is found on saline and calcareous soils especially in Pakistan and India. It has been a kind of folk remedy for generations.
Kala Namak or black salt gives dishes a sulphurous taste. This is especially desirable for fruit salads, chutneys. Particularly suitable with vegetables and exotic fruit, but also with fish. It also gives an extraordinary taste to fruit juice drinks or long drinks. For vegans, black salt is particularly popular at the table for its egg flavor.
